Back in 2004, the ICC introduced the Player of the Year award to celebrate outstanding performances by cricketers on an annual basis. The ceremony was a chance to recognize & acknowledge the cream of World cricketing talent and it's been going strong ever since.

Each year a panel of accomplished cricketers (now retired) determines whom the award should go to. 2012 saw the great Clive Lloyd, Marvan Atapattu, Tom Moody, Carl Hooper & ex-England Women's captain Clare Connor as part of the panel. As it turned out, it was a happy day for the PUMA Family!

During the period of consideration, England's Sarah Taylor played 10 matches amassing 340 runs at an average of 48,57 & the wicketkeeper also claimed 11 dismissals, which included 7 stumpings! Taylor especially stood out during the England vs. West Indies match where she scored a lovely 50 from 37 balls. Her innings also included some memorable cover drives. For her brilliant performance throughout this period, Sarah was awarded the Women's T20 Player of the Year award.

Winning awards is always great. But it's really easy to get caught up in all the hype. We never forget what our athletes represent: performance, excellence & most of all, a love for the game. It's what we stand for & it's the reason we're proud of our athletes.
